Jacquard Lumiere paints are thick metallic and pearlescent acrylic paints made with a blend of pigments and mica powders; with each colour combining different-sized particles to create different effects. Choose from a range of metallics, pearls, halo and hi-lite colours. The high pigmentation provides vibrant colours and excellent coverage on light and dark backgrounds.
They are suitable for all natural and synthetic fabrics, leather, wood, canvas, paper, clay, vinyl, rubber, metal and more. Making cosplay outfits? Use Jacquard Lumiere to paint EVA foam, Worbla or Sintra PVC foam board; the colour combinations and effects are endless! Painted fabrics should be allowed to air dry and cure for 24–72 hours before being heat set by ironing, after which they can be washed or dry cleaned.
Jacquard Lumiere paints remain soft and flexible and will stretch with fabric making it ideal for use in dance and theatrical costume design and sports clothing. The paints do not crack, peel or chip. Use with Jacquard Neopaque Flowable Extender to make the colours more transparent, or dilute with up to 25% water for airbrushing or silk painting. Mix to create different shades and effects, or add to Jacquard Textile or Neopaque paints to extend the palette still further.
These paints have unparalleled adhesive properties, even on non-porous surfaces, and the colours are lightfast and weather-resistant.
How to use Jacquard Lumiere paints:
- Apply Jacquard Lumiere with brushes, stamps, or spray bottles. Thin with water by up to 25% to apply with an airbrush.
- Allow painted fabric time to dry and cure for 24–72 hours to help improve wash resistance before heat setting.
- Heat set on the reverse side of the painting with an iron using the appropriate setting for the fabric. Alternatively, use a dryer on as hot a temperature as the fabric will take for about 35 to 45 minutes.
- Promptly clean all tools with warm water.

Samples show Jacquard Lumiere colours (left to right) Metallic Silver and Bright Gold, Hi-Lite Blue and Hi-Lite Red on denim, Lokta paper, cotton and Leather effect paper. The Lumiere Hi-lite colours are formulated with interference mica pigments. These pigments have a thin coating of colour and are translucent; they look different depending on the colour of the surface to which they are applied. On a white background the colours Blue (576), Red (574) or Violet (575) show just as a shimmering tint, while on black or darker backgrounds, the full colour is exposed.
