Handwoven Coat using Zoom Loom Squares

How brilliant to be able to share this image of customer Penny Symonds wearing her hand woven Duffle Coat.

“This is the coat made with zoom loom squares. The hood is woven on an Ashford rigid heddle, and the binding and pockets are knitted. It is fully lined with fleece.  I am looking forward to getting more inspiration from Little Looms!”

Penny made her coat after subscribing to the popular magazine Easy Weaving with Little Looms. The weaving magazine features projects for rigid heddle looms, pin looms, and inkle looms, as well as ideas for tapestry weaving and, the most portable of all, tablet weaving cards. Easy Weaving with Little Looms has become a firm favourite since George Weil began selling it 5 years ago.

Penny certainly used a variety of techniques to create this one-of-a-kind, special coat. The squares were woven on the Schacht Zoom Loom which is made from a high-density, durable plastic and designed to fit comfortably in the hand while weaving, the hood was woven on a rigid heddle loom, and the contrast binding was knitted in a complementary colour.
