Felt Making Ideas

Feltmaking and Needle Felting techniques can be used to create 3-dimensional objects and there are many resources on the internet for making a needle felted Easter – try colourful Easter Eggs, Ducklings or Bunnies.

The Wishing Shed ChicksWe found this excellent tutorial on YouTube from The Wishing Shed which shows how to make a cute little needle felted chick in detail. You can order a PDF of the template from their Etsy shop.

You will need Merino wool tops, felting needles and a needle protection pad – take care; the tip and barbs on the felting needle are very sharp and not suitable for use by children.

The Jelly Bean, Fruit & Flowers, Wildlife and Pastels 100g Multi-pack bags of Merino wool tops provide a choice of Springtime colours, while the larger 1kg mixed bags mean you can have even more felted fun! The individual colours of Merino wool tops are available to order in quantities of 50g and 100g.

Warming up for Painting “en plein air”

Make the most of this relatively mild weather or stock up for Summer; pack up your watercolours, a flask and a snack and get painting Springtime views outside. There are a wide range of watercolour paint sets, watercolour papers and field easels available from George Weil.

If you’re looking for something new to try, the Derwent Inktense Blocks and Pencils offer endless opportunities for experimentation. The ink colour from these water soluble blocks and pencils intensifies when water is applied and the ink marks become permanent on paper and fabric. Used in combination with other media to create a variety of stunning effects.
