Sculpey Premo Polymer Clay 454g (1lb) – larger blocks in selected colours of this superior polymer clay. Sculpey Premo is ideal for jewellery making, especially Millefiori, and caning work. It is very malleable and holds a sculpted line well. It is easily blended with other colours and can be combined with other clays, powders or pigments for creating different effects. The translucent colour is the most translucent of all the polymer clay brands.

How to use Sculpey Premo Polymer Clay

1. The Sculpey Premo polymer clay 454g blocks are marked with division lines to help you select the correct amount of clay for your project. Use a narrow bladed knife to ensure clean cuts.
2. Work the piece of clay between your fingers to soften it. This is called conditioning. The binders in the clay will warm up and the clay will become malleable.
3. We recommend working on a smooth, non-porous surface such as a glass chopping board or ceramic tile. Ensure your surface is free from dust and fluff as this is easily picked up by the polymer clay.
4. Create your object. Many tools from around the house can be used to shape and model Sculpey Premo polymer clay. You can find a range of dedicated clay tools on the George Weil website here and there are a number of Blog posts to give you ideas for making items from polymer clay.
5. Polymer clay is hardened (cured) at a low temperature in a domestic oven. Once cured, the clay is strong and durable. It is not brittle – the thicker areas are hard and rigid and the thinner delicate areas ‘flex’ to reduce the risk of breakage.
6. Cover cookware with baking foil or greaseproof paper before using it to heat-set the polymer clay.Bake in a domestic oven at just 130°C (275°F) for 30 minutes per 6mm (1/4 inch) thickness. Do not microwave. 130°C is a low temperature which should not be exceeded.
7. Allow the baked clay to cool before handling it.

• Uncured clay may damage unprotected furniture or finished surfaces.
• Wrap unused clay in cling film or place in a plastic bag.
• Store the clay in a cool, dark and dry place. In the summer months, the clay may become partially cured if your climate is very hot and your house is not air conditioned.
• Polymer clay can be stored at low temperatures with no ill effects to the properties of the clay. Refrigeration or freezing can extend the shelf life considerably.
