Marbling paints can be used for marbling the surface of fabric, paper and card. The smoother the surface, the better the transfer. A tray is prepared containing a solution of size. This is made using a marbling medium such as carrageenan or methyl cellulose. The marbling paint is dropped onto the surface of the size and manipulated using a comb, cocktail sticks etc. Additional colours can be added to create more complex patterning. The marble paints featured below will remain permanent on fabric once heat set. Our Blog post Marbling on Fabric and Paper explains for about the process.
