Sericin rich silk fibres for spraying with water and ironing flat to make a silk fabric ‘paper’. Spray the paper with silk paints to add colour or brush over with glistening Jacquard Pearl-Ex pigments. Cocoons consist of 70-80% silk fibre, and 20-30% sericin which is the sticky gum that glues the fibre together. During silk production the cocoon is boiled to remove the sericin so that the silk, which is a strong continuous thread, can be unwound from the cocoon.
