Derwent Inktense pencils feature a solid ink core that delivers vibrant colour and effortless blending. Once water is applied, the pencil marks transform into permanent, translucent ink. This extensive range is complemented by the non-soluble Inktense Outliner, which allows you to create permanent graphite outlines that won’t bleed when washed over. The Derwent Inktense Pencil Tin of 36 contains 35 colours plus the Outliner pencil.
Inktense is an ideal companion for watercolour artists. Unlike traditional watercolours, which remain water-soluble even when dry, Inktense colours become fixed, allowing for layering without disturbing previous washes.
These pencils and blocks also offer exciting possibilities for textile artists. Because the ink is permanent, it can be used directly on fabric; designs can be washed at 30°C while the fabric retains a soft, natural feel. For silk painting, a gutta outliner can be used to define areas and prevent the ink from spreading.
