The Safflower is generally used for the production of vegetable oil but was traditionally used for colouring and flavouring. In oil form, it is also used as a medium for artists painting in oils. When used as a natural dye, the dried flowers produce shades of red – yellow. This dyestuff has been powdered to help with water absorption during the dyeing process.
The range of colours is determined by the type of mordant used and the method of dyeing. 100g bag
