A mild non-ionic low temperature concentrated detergent used to prevent back staining by removing dye which has not combined with the fabric. After dyeing, use half a teaspoon to 5 litres of water for washing out excess dyestuff.
Synthrapol is also used to clean materials so that they are dirt and grease free before dyeing (PFD) and a process known as scouring. As a surfactant, Synthrapol can lower the surface tension between fibres and dye solutions. This means that it acts as a wetting agent to help materials absorb the dye colour. Soak materials in half a teaspoon of Synthrapol to 5 litres of warm water for 15 minutes, squeeze out and add to the dye bath whilst wet.
Synthrapol is also effective at degreasing fleece, use up to 2 tablespoons to 5 litres of cold water for washing fleece. Move the fibre slowly in the solution to help prevent felting. Use the same ratio in hot water to help remove wax from batik fabric.
It is recommended to wear protective gloves when using this product.
