Merino wool tops are finer than British wools and more substantial and less lustrous than Blue Faced Leicester. The wool fibres felt very easily and make excellent Nuño articles using our silk chiffon. These undyed Merino Wool Tops also spin to a fine yarn, and can be dyed using natural dyes, indigo or acid dyes.
Our undyed natural Merino wool tops have a fibre thickness of 25 microns (Bradford count 60’s), a staple length of 75-80mm and a roving width of 25mm.
In addition to natural white, the range of dyed Merino wool tops include repeatable colours which can also be ordered in units of 50g and 100g. Just 100g of wool fibre will make a square of felt approximately 30cm wide. These fine dyed Merino wool tops are 23 microns, have a staple length of 75-80mm and a roving width of 25mm.
