Drawing inks for artists and illustrators for use with pen and nib, brush or airbrush. The Winsor & Newton Drawing Inks are formulated from soluble dyes in shellac solution, giving brilliance of colour and are popular with artists, illustrators and calligraphers. The Daler Rowney FW inks combine pigments with acrylic resins. The colours can be substantially diluted to achieve subtle of tones similar in character to watercolour. These inks work well through airbrushes and technical pens.
The difference between dye-based inks and pigmented acrylic based inks is a slight reduction in colour intensity, but with much improved resistance to fading. Washes, with both types of ink, dry to a water-resistant film on most surfaces and successive layers of ink can be laid over to blend or intensify colours.
