Spectrafix Degas Fixative can be used on all papers, primed and unprimed canvas, leather, stone, unglazed ceramic, wood panels and many other surfaces to fix all pastels, charcoal, chalk, graphite and coloured pencil.
It can be used in combination with Gouache, Watercolour or Ink as a carrier, or under Oil and Acrylic paints to prevent underdrawings from smudging, however it is not recommended as a final top coat for oils and acrylics.
The odourless and non-toxic casein, water and alcohol formula is based on a recipe used by French Impressionist painter Edgar Degas. It seals and protects artwork without affecting the colours and dries quickly to an invisible matte finish.
It is also possible to work on top of a dried coat of Spectrafix Degas Spray Fixative, making it ideal for layering over smooth finishes such as oil pastel and pencil marks. It combines well with almost all media, and dries to a hard, water-resistant finish.
