We take these unusual ‘fingers’ of silk fibre and hand dye them in the colourways below. The results are very unusual and they can be used in all experimental textile projects where originality and individuality is the keynote. They can also be ‘distressed’, ironed flat, stretched unmercifully, or otherwise simply enjoyed! The vibrantly coloured rods have a high sheen which is not given justice in the photograph.
The bottom image shows an undyed Carrier Rod which has been gently pulled apart. The interesting criss-cross weave of fibres can be used to great effect in silk papermaking.
Please note that these silk fibres are hand-dyed and may vary from batch to batch.
