Lojan Buddy Spinning Wheel single treadle
The Buddy is the new spinning wheel designed and developed by father and daughter team Jan Louët and Loes van Aken. This model of the Buddy wheel features a wide single treadle that can be operated with one or both feet.
The wheel features the much improved Irish Tension; Dutch Tension. Although the wheel is still bobbin led, the stream-lined design of the Buddy’s flyer allows you to spin with less of a pull on the yarn. Along with the 5 ratios this makes it ideal for spinning fine yarns right through to chunky textured yarns.
The large 18mm orifice can be reduced in size by using the 12mm insert (included) which helps to prevent yarn wobble when spinning thinner yarns. There’s no fiddly threading up with this wheel, the large sliding guides have an opening to allow you to insert the yarn instead of pulling it through. You then simply push the leader through the large orifice, thread it through the removable insert and pop it into place. See Loes’ demonstration on the single treadle wheel on Facebook.
The thoughtful design of the Lojan Buddy will please both beginner and experienced spinners. It is simple to use, built with high quality materials and easy to assemble. The solid beech and beech laminated wood has been left unfinished so that you can choose to wax, oil, varnish or paint your wheel.
This Lojan spinning wheel comes with a stand-alone Lazy Kate, 4 x 200g capacity bobbins and an orifice size adapter.
