Tools and equipment to compliment our range of screen printing inks and block printing inks which can be found in the Materials section. There is a choice of screen printing tools including screen printing frames in different sizes, two squeegees in different rubber densities, and hinge clamps. The block printing equipment includes a choice of lino cutter sets with a varied selection of blades shapes, uncut lino blocks, Speedball Speedy Stamps and wood cutting sets for making wood blocks. There are brayers in different widths, two types of barens and the bench hook inking plate.
The Selectasine printing system is simple, economic and flexible in use. It includes a range of binders and pigments which can be mixed in a number of combinations to create screen printing inks with different characteristics. These screen printing inks can be used on most surfaces although we recommend testing before beginning a project. Prints on fabric are washable once heat set.
The concentrated pigments are supplied in a liquid state as 'pigment in dispersion'. This means that the minute particles of pigment have not dissolved in the liquid. The liquid pigments are therefore easier to combine more evenly within the binders.
The 6 different types of binder offer the screen printer a large choice of colour options and effects. The SF20 acrylic binder creates a standard screen ink when combined with the Selectasine pigments at a ratio of 15-25g to 500g of binder, the Opaque Binder has been formulated for printing on dark coloured fabrics, and the Opaque White binder is for printing white onto dark fabrics and can be combined with pigments to create pastel shades. The Pearl Binder is silver pearlised and can be used by itself or combined with coloured pigments, the Puff Binder reacts to heat and plumps up to create textured prints, while the Metallic Binder has been formulated to use with fine metallic powders which can also be tinted with the coloured pigments. The inks can be diluted with water to make them more fluid for painting or spraying on paper or board but bear in mind that the heat setting properties on fabrics will become impaired.
