Indigo is probably the most widely used dyestuff of all time. Here you can order either natural indigo dye powder or synthetic indigo powder and both will yield the same indigo blue colour. Indigo is traditionally used in tie-dye Shibori techniques and Batik, and of course, for dyeing denim.
You will need Soda Ash and Thiourea Dioxide for the oxidising process. Although the indigo powder is blue, the indigo molecule does not produce its blue colour until it is oxidised.
